We apologize, but our Saturday, May 2nd training is canceled due to the spread of COVID-19/coronavirus. We hope to schedule an additional training sometime this summer and will update this page at that time. Please email to be notified of the next training date.
Home Visiting Volunteer
Home visiting volunteers offer emotional and practical support to families with small babies. Examples of tasks include: caring for older siblings, light chores, accompanying parents on errands, and everyone’s favorite—snuggling sweet babies. Often a volunteer is simply a reassuring and encouraging presence for an overwhelmed parent, offering an extra pair of hands and the affirmation that they are doing well.
Due to the sensitive nature of the work our volunteers do with families, we require the following for home visiting volunteers:
Complete one of our volunteer trainings (held four times a year)
Allow permission to participate in a national background check
Commit to supporting a family for 12, 2-hour visits
Attend monthly volunteer meetings to stay updated on Sistering CU business and continued training
In addition to providing volunteer training, Sistering CU offers ongoing supervision, training, and support for volunteers.
Support Group Volunteer
Our support group for new parents is always looking for extra help. Options include:
pick up and drop off our weekly Starbucks order
train to be a co-facilitator for the group
Would you like to support families with new babies, but you don't have the time? No problem! We also need support in planning and holding fundraising events.
Board members help to ensure the current and future success of our organization. Requirements include:
Attendance at monthly board meetings (held on the second Wednesday of every month from 7-8:30pm)
Attendance at additional events, board activities, and trainings as requested
Serving on at least one committee annually
Serving as a Community Ambassador on behalf of Sistering CU
Making an annual donation (or services in kind equivalent to) of $200 to Sistering CU
Making a 1 year commitment to being on the board
